Charism Discernment
Throughout Scripture, we see God the Father as a gift giver. Through the Holy Spirit, he gives spiritual gifts to his children.
- The first, the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit, are given to us at baptism and put into action at Confirmation. These (Fear of the Lord, Piety, Wisdom, Knowledge, Understanding, Counsel, and Fortitude), are given for our group in holiness. We call these sanctifying gifts.
- The second, the Charisms are also received at baptism and strengthened in Confirmation. We receive and share the Father’s love for us through the Charisms. As the Christian develops and grows in relationship with God the Father, he will likely experience a greater awareness of his charisms and see them active in his life for the good of others. We call these ministry helping gifts as well.
