Sign up!- October 30, 2026
“A quiet hour alone by myself was a relief. Nearly every week I would arrive in a huff from exhaustion, barely making it, my mind reeling from the latest crisis at home. And every week I would come home with a solution or new plan. These new solutions every week were so helpful that my husband started to ask when I returned, ‘So, what inspiration did you get?’”
Hello, brothers and sisters! This is an excerpt from an email I received a few weeks ago detailing a Holy Hour Testimony. Ever since we made a push to fill in the remaining hours, I have received several testimonies regarding experiences with adoration, and from time to time (with their permission, of course) I would like to share these testimonies with you!
This first testimony was a practical approach to common objections we make to ourselves, and in fact lists 10 objections and rebuttals to them, all of which end with the invitation: “sign up.” Three especially caught my attention, mostly because they are my own objections. First, “I am at Mass on Sunday.” I love the analogy she used – Mass is family dinner, the Holy Hour is date night with your spouse. Second, “I don’t have time.” The solution is from Mother Teresa: If you are too busy to pray, you are too busy. (Remember: BUSY is Burdened Under Satan’s Yoke) Finally, “I don’t want to.” Wow. If I had a dollar for every time I wanted to skip a Holy Hour, you would never see me again, because I’d have a ton of money and would disappear into the woods. Paraphrasing her solution: “Congratulations. Do it anyway.”
Like our author, I’ve never regretted a Holy Hour, especially the days I don’t want to go. It is those days particularly that have impacted my life the most, because I had to choose it! Sometimes it seems that God isn’t listening or answering. But, “hindsight is mind blowing. My holy hour has given me the time and space to reflect on and recognize God’s hand in action. Spoilers- it’s never how I expected things to go.” Going to him in adoration, even for just a few minutes, will shape us in ways we could never imagine. So I join our author and say “sign up!” Or as Nike says, “Just Do It!” The Lord is waiting. Go out to meet him!
God bless!
