At St. Peter we are excited to announce a new model of youth formation, called Family Faith Formation.
Family Faith Formation = Weekly Formation (in the home, led by the parents) + Monthly Community Gatherings + (additional Sacrament Prep in the spring for Families with students in 2nd and 5th grade).
Our new model, Family Faith Formation, will replace our previous CCD curriculum and weekly after-school structure.
This new approach is designed to support parents being teacher witnesses of faith in the home while giving families greater flexibility and opportunities to grow together in Christ.
Family Faith Formation will include one monthly gathering at St. Peter for the whole family, featuring fellowship, prayer, and formation for the month ahead. Families will then complete a series of lessons and activities at home throughout the month at a pace that fits their schedule.
We are grateful for your continued support and participation in the life of our parish, and we are excited for all that lies ahead!
If you are new to the parish and need to enroll your child, please contact Bailey Frey, Director of Family Faith Formation, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Weekly Formation
- What: Each family will receive books—one for each child and one for the parents—that will guide you through the content and activities at home. Each month will focus on a particular theme.
- Where: In your home.
- When: Whenever works best for your family. There is no set weekly meeting time. You can work through the material according to your family’s schedule and rhythm.
- Who: You, the parents-- In Family Faith Formation, parents take the primary role in passing on the faith to their children, with the parish here to support and equip you along the way through the Monthly Community Gatherings.
Monthly Community Gatherings
- What: These evenings will include a combination of parent formation, a family activity, and fellowship with other families in our parish community.
- Where: Primarily at St. Peter. On occasion, we may gather at a park or another location, and we will communicate that ahead of time.
- When: Once a month on Sundays, from 5:00–6:30 PM. Our dates for this year are:
- August 30 (you will receive your books this night)
- October 4
- November 1
- December 6
- January 10
- February 7
- March 14
- April 11
- May 2
- Who: The whole family! All children are welcome, and we strongly encourage both parents to participate whenever possible.
What happens if we can't make a community gathering?
It's okay to miss a night. We'll do our best to catalog what happens at the family gathering (possibly video or audio recordings). These community gatherings are meant to help both introduce the theme for the month and help prepare the family together for the month ahead. Missing a given night is okay when it is followed up with the weekly formation outlined in the A Family of Faith textbooks.
Have a Student Preparing for a Sacrament
Fill out the Sacrament Preparation Contact Form to be added to our mailing list and help us prepare materials and stay connected with your family. You can fill it out here: Sacrament Contact Form.
Please visit our First Penance, First Communion, and Confirmation pages for more information regarding the details of these specific sacraments.
What About Sacrament Preparation?
For children in a sacrament preparation year, there are two additional components.
First, we ask that every family preparing a child for First Communion and Confirmation attend our parish's Sacrament Prep Meeting. You only need to attend once (ever). If you have prepared a child at the parish any time after 2022, you do not need to attend. If this is your first child, are new to the parish, or have not attended previously, please plan to attend the next meeting on Wed. Aug. 19 at 7 pm in the music room.
Second, children will continue to meet after school on Wednesdays at St. Peter, similar to previous years. However, these meetings will only take place during the 10 weeks immediately leading up to the reception of the sacrament. (dates to come in future emails)
This sacramental preparation will be led by the School Sisters of Christ the King.

More information on the Curriculum:

This year, all families will participate in A Family of Faith, a faith formation program developed by Sophia Institute for Teachers for parishes using a Family Faith Formation model.
The program provides weekly booklets with engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities for every grade level, making it easy for families to learn together. Each lesson is intentionally brief, encouraging meaningful conversations about the faith at home without becoming another time-consuming item on a family's to-do list. The goal is to help families build lasting habits of prayer, discussion, and faith-filled living in the home.
